- Dr. Piet Hein van der Graaf (1965) will be the new Director of Research for the Academic Center for Drug Research (LACDR) at the Leiden University. As a part time professor of System Pharmacology at the LACDR, Van der Graaf will give his inaugural lecture the 27th of may 2013.

- LURIS is organising a workshop on the use of the database/biobank from the Netherlands Epidemiology of Obesity Study (NEO). The LUMC has been collecting data for this study over the last 4 years and they would now like to offer the database/biobank for collaboration with other institutions and companies.

- In October of 2012 the General and Administrative Services Department and the ICT Shared Service Center (ISSC) introduced the 'New University Workstation Services' (NUWS). The aim of this project is to upgrade all workstations (Windows, Mac & Linux) within the university to provide staff and students with a modern and efficient work environment. The project also consists of improving the services related to the workstations.

- On the 21st and 22nd of January, our university will be audited by the NVAO (Dutch/Flemish Accreditation Organisation) on the quality of our education. All Dutch universities are required by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science to undergo such evaluation.

- The Christmas Lunch Concert will take place on Thursday 20 December From 12.30 – 13.30 hrs at the Hall of the Gorlaeus Laboratory. The Christmas choir 'Collegium Musicum will sing cheerful and Glühwein and Chocolate Milk will be served.
