“My web analytical tasks during my internship in 2009 at Click Value were to measure, analyse, report and improve the performance of the online activities of the Dutch energy company Essent. The main aim of this internship is to gain experience in a business environment and develop (new) knowledge and skills, which cannot be taught at the university. In order to realise these objectives, I had function for a period of 5 months as a full-fledged employee at the web analytics consultancy ClickValue. This organisation improves the performance of the web channel /online (activities) for their clients by offering web analytics and business intelligence services.
The role that I had at the company is that of a web analyst / web analytics consultant assistant. The main task was to assist the senior consultant in an ongoing project, the (effectively) implementation of web analytics in the Dutch energy company Essent.
Shortly summarized the activities consists of 1) measure and analyse the web statistics of a certain online activity, 2) report the performance of the same activity, 3) set-up and update a web site and 4) other activities. The internship took place at the office of ClickValue in Amsterdam, but in some occasions I was also expected to carry out some of my activities at the main office of Essent at ‘s-Hertogenbosch.
All objectives and learning goals been met. I had to acquire and develop (new) knowledge and skills to function well in a business environment. Being part of the ClickValue team as well as Essent Online department, I have experienced the culture, observed the organisation structure and the efficiency of a small starting as well as a big multinational company. I have noticed the differences between these companies and improved my insight in the roles and relations between organisations.
The internship has also contributed to form a broader image of my carrier opportunities after graduation.
The internship has been completed successfully. Except the realized learning goals, I hava also gained other knowledge, skills and experience. It must be concluded that the internship exceeded every expectations I had before the internship.”
