SBB Specialisation for Research Master Students
Within the SBB Specialisation you can choose the Differentiation Science-Based Business (SBB) or Research-Based Business (RBB). Both tracks will provide you with knowledge and skills in the area of Management, Business and Entrepreneurship.
The SBB Differentiation
The focus of SBB lies on activities within existing science and research driven organisations and provides Master students with basic knowledge of Management and Business. The SBB Differentiation offers a career perspective for science graduates outside of (fundamental) research.The RBB Differentiation
The focus of RBB lies on the commercialisation of knowledge created in research and offers an expansion of knowledge in Management, Business and Entrepreneurship. The RBB Differentiation offers a perspective for science graduates who choose a) to follow a career on the border of research and business and b) (to start) a career in research with knowledge of the possibilities of applying research results.Completion Requirements of the SBB Specialisation
Completion of the SBB Specialisation requires a curriculum of a minimum of 40ECs.
Most Research MSc programmes at the Science Faculty of Leiden University allow students to acquire up to 60ECs within the SBB Specialisation.
The SBB Differentiation includes at least the following courses:
SBB Fundamentals, SBB Management and SBB Internship
The RBB Differentiation includes at least the following courses:
RBB Foundation Courses, RBB Technology Transfer or Business Development and RBB AssignmentStudents with prior education in Management, Business and Entrepreneurship may- depending on the content and extend of such an education- be exempted from following one or more of the Foundation and Advancement courses. However, the completion requirement of at least 40ECs needs to be met.
