Peter Kempen, Master student from VU Amsterdam
"As soon as I started studying, the business side of science interested me the most. Although there was an opportunity to do the Entrepreneur master after I had finished the Biomedical bachelor at the VU University in Amsterdam......"

“... this seemed to be too vague and at that time not interesting enough. Therefore I choose to do a Biomolecular Sciences master at the VU Amsterdam. This was real material, real science and it really interested me. That ended when I had to do an internship.”
- SBB offered the best option to change my career
“Despite the fact I had found the best internship at a company I could wish for, research still is research. It implies a lot of work on your own, same people every day and you should have a neatly and ordered personality. For me, that is not the case and therefore I didn’t appreciate it that much and could not work on my full potential.
Soon after that, I started to look for opportunities to change my career. SBB at Leiden University seemed to have the best option by providing a fast track covering most important issues of business, and with that, a possibility to do an internship. By doing that, I was able to first see whether I would like it and eventually chose to continue.
The courses were eventually quite intensive but worth more than anything. This gave me enough insight to make a decision to continue investing in it.
Besides that, the course content gave me enough basic knowledge and therefore confidence to start a SBB internship.
Finally, it took me a while to propose a way that integrated SBB and the business internship in my Biomolecular Sciences master at the VU Amsterdam. Since I got this permission of the exam commission, I am now applying for a SBB internship.
This track was a absolute necessity for the continuation of my study career and I therefore recommend this course to anyone, especially when you are in a dip or in doubt with the regular Science master programmes.”
